It’s just an unbelievable shock to see my two (much older now) old kitties still alive and well in this picture. It feels like a mixture of relief (that they still were, or are alive at this age) and sorrow (since by now, I had forgotten how much I loved and missed them.)
I vaguely recognize the people holding them as friends of my ex’s, and recall how the two cats disappeared one night in a fresh snow in the early hours of a Sunday morning looking like they had driven back to Clear Lake, IA on the same road as the only car with that track width at that hour. Thank you so much for taking them, you two people; I couldn’t take care of them and no one else in my immediate circle of friends could either at the time when L. and I lost our house and moved away. My mother’s farm was no place for them to winter, and her idea of how to take care of cats, is hard to describe. ‘Nuff said. Love you all. pdg
